Prof. Anand K Chaudhary is working as Professor and Head in the Department of Rasa Shastra and Bhaishjya Kalpana (Ayurvedic Pharmaceutics) at Faculty of Ayurveda, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. He completed his M D (Ayurveda ) and Ph D from Banaras Hindu University in 1997 and 2002 respectively. From 2000 to 2006, Prof Chaudhary rendered his services at the Institute of Post Graduate Teaching and Researches in Ayurveda, Gujarat Ayurveda University, Jamnagar. Dr Chaudhary has guided 43 Post Graduate and Doctorate dissertations and more than 146 published research papers and 91 invited talks in India and abroad are in his credit.
The thrust area of research of Prof Anand K Chaudhary is the quality, safety, and efficacy of Ayurvedic formulations. He has worked on the standardization of many herbal and herbo mineral dosage forms of Ayurveda including processed medicines of mercurial origin described in Ayurveda. On the virtue of his expertise on assorted aspects of Ayurvedic medicaments, Prof Chaudhary has been nominated in prestigious committees of Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India for “Drug Development” of Ayurveda in 2015 and in Committee for Safety and Stabilities of Classical formulations of Ayurveda in 2014. Recently, in 2017, Prof Chaudhary has been nominated in Ayurvedic Drug Licensing Committee of Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Prof Anand K Chaudhary is known for his expertise in regulatory procedures applicable on manufacturing, marketing and export of Ayurvedic drugs. Prof Chaudhary has completed two projects of the World Health Organization on the appropriate use of Ayurvedic Medicines. Along with academia, Prof Anand K Chaudhary has been assigned for several administrative assignments in his career.
Prof Anand Chaudhary had lead Indian Delegation in BIMSTEC Conference on “Protection of Traditional Knowledge and Genetic Resource” in Bangkok , Thailand on May 21-22 ,2018.
Prof Anand Kumar Chaudhary has been awarded BEST TEACHER in Drug Research Teaching 2018 CCRAS –AYUSH AWARDS by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. He was also awarded by IASTAM –India, Pune with Rasavaidya Nagindas Sah Award 2018 and Zandu Award by SFE –Kolkata in 2019.
